Setting a house up once is enough. If your devices are already named and sorted into rooms in Google Home, MediaPond can import them instead of asking you to type the same thing into a second app.
What gets imported
MediaPond reads the devices you have in Google Home and lets you bring across the ones that belong in a media room, keeping the names and the rooms you already chose. You approve the list, so nothing is pulled in quietly.
The point of it is the first five minutes, because a house with a dozen devices in it should not need a dozen setup screens before the app is useful.
What happens after the import
Imported devices behave like anything else in a MediaPond room, sitting next to the television, the streamer and the speakers, and coming up as part of the room rather than being controlled one at a time.
Devices MediaPond talks to directly, such as televisions, streamers and Matter lights, are still discovered on your own network. The import is about the setup you have already done rather than about routing control traffic somewhere else.
Keeping both
Google Home carries on doing what it does, so MediaPond does not take anything over, rename anything on the other side, or ask you to pick an ecosystem.
You end up with the same house described once, and a media room that knows what is in it.
Because the import only reads your existing setup, it is also easy to undo. Remove a device from a MediaPond room and nothing happens on the Google Home side, and if you later rename or reorganize things there, you can bring the changes across again rather than editing both. What can be imported depends on what Google exposes to apps, and that can change without warning.
