Lighting belongs with the film rather than in another app on another home screen. MediaPond commissions supported Govee lights over Matter directly onto its own fabric, so the lamps in a room become controls in that room and dimming them can be part of starting something.
Matter, with no Govee account
MediaPond speaks Matter itself, so supported Govee lights are commissioned onto MediaPond’s own fabric over your local network. That means no Govee cloud account, no Govee app sign-in, and no company sitting in the middle of a light switch.
Because it is Matter, control is local, so the round trip is from your phone to the lamp rather than out to a data centre and back.
Lights as part of the room
A lamp added to a room appears next to the television and the speakers, with on, off, brightness and color. There is no separate lighting section to go and find, because the point of a room is that the things in it are in one place.
That is also what makes an amber scene worth having, since the light can drop as a title begins, from the same tap, without a second app being opened in the dark.
What Matter does and does not mean here
MediaPond acts as a controller on your network. It is not a hub replacement and it does not proxy your lights to anything else, so it controls the lights it has been given, in the rooms you put them in.
If you already run lighting through Google Home or Home Assistant, those devices can be brought into MediaPond rooms too, so a mixed house does not need a favorite ecosystem.
